Experiences with the digitalization of grid recorded line structures, part 1
Abstract
The digitalization of line structures, which are recorded using grids, is discussed. The ACSD scanner system at the Rome Air Development Center in Rome, U.S., was used to grid record contour map L5716 at Bad Homburg. The resulting binary matrix was further processed at the Institute for Processing of Graphical Data and of Structure Recognition of the Society for Mathematics and Data Processing. The following is discussed: line tracking, including skeletonizing, labeling and branch solving, processing time; data reduction and data organization.
