Visualization methods using the differential interferometer
Abstract
Various flow visualization methods are described and demonstrated for a shock-tube free jet. The methods were realized by combining a differential interferometer with appropriate auxiliary optical components, and allow visualization of the optical path of a phase object as well as all first and second derivations of this function of x, y, and time. Some of these methods are similar to the schlieren - and shadowgraph methods.
