Applied aerodynamics of wind power machines
Abstract
Aerodynamics of various types of wind power machines, and advantages and disadvantages of various schemes for obtaining power from the wind are reviewed. Simple, one-dimensional models for various power producing machines are given along with their performance characteristics, and presented as a function of their elementary aerodynamic and kinematic characteristics. Propeller type wind turbine theory is reviewed to level of strip theory including both induced axial and tangential velocities.
