A system for minicomputer-driven interactive printed circuit board layout generating is described. The system is especially useful for the user geared to low-volume production of many different types of boards of different size, electronics, and line density. The primary advantage of this system is that the layout is under the designer's continual supervision and control. The system is capable of displaying the current state of the layout after each modification; thus the designer becomes aware of errors as soon as they occur. The hardware consists of a PDP-11 minicomputer (any type), teleprinter, storage scope, 20-function keyboard, and an incremental plotter.
