Gas-transfer analysis section C: Receiver conditions and unchoke times
Abstract
The theoretical analysis of gas-transfer develops ideal-gas expressions for receiver-gas state variables valid for both of the limiting cases, adiabatic or isothermal reservoirs. These expressions hold regardless of whether the transfer flow is choked or unchoked. However, a complete time-dependent solution is possible only if separate choked and unchoked solutions are derived. The time of unchoking is therefore derived for both adiabatic and isothermal reservoirs with unity and non-unity loss coefficient, lambda. Furthermore, expressions for lambda in the special case of constant-area pipe flow are presented and discussed.
