Perturbation of a test body by a massive ring in a Newtonian field
Abstract
The motion of an interplanetary space probe was investigated in a central Newtonian gravity field perturbed by the attraction of a concentric massive circular ring, representing the ring of asteroids. Using a first-order perturbation theory, an explicit solution is given for the first two terms of the expansion of the perturbing potential.
