Low contrast long latitude developer for high resolution plates and films
Abstract
A combination of 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidine, P-methylaminophenol sulfate, sodium sulfite, and sodium carbonate (designated DbX developer) forms a soft working developer especially useful with Kodak 649F and Agfa 10E75 plates used in holography. Gammas of 1.0 and less have been obtained with both plates. A Fourier transform filter has been constructed with 649F processed to a gamma of 1.0 in this developer. 10E75 processed to a gamma of 1.0 in this developer has been found to have a reconstruction efficiency of about 60 percent of that obtained with the same film processed in D-19 for 5 minutes at 70 F. The developed has also been found useful with Kodak Plus-X pan film producing low contrast and a long exposure latitude while maintaining a good tone speed.
