Directivity of hydroacoustic antennas
Abstract
The basic parameters that characterize the direction properties of hydroacoustic antennas are defined and methods of calculating them are described. The most common types of antennas (linear, surface, three dimensional, reflector, and horn antennas are examined. Equations for determining the basic parameters of the antennas are presented. Exact methods of calculation, requiring the use of electronic digital computers, and approximate methods are discussed. An approximate method of determining the influence of random excitation errors on the directional characteristics and load factor of multielement hydroacoustic antennas is also described.
