Dynamic and static balancing gyroscopic equipment
Abstract
Contemporary theory and technology are presented for the static and dynamic balancing of rotors and other units in gyroscopic apparatus, in terms of the effect of the quality of the pivoting base and other elements in relation to their accuracy and reliability. Results of investigations are presented for the dependence of gyroscope drift on the nonperpendicularity of the universal joint axes, on the dynamic imbalance of the internal wheel suspension, and on the dynamic imbalance in components and assemblies of the gyroscopic equipment. Calculation theory is considered for rigidity characteristics of the pivoting base and their effect on the gyroscope's operation. Various balancing machine systems are considered, and recommendations are presented for their calculation and utilization. Basic methods are indicated for automating the process of balancing gyroscope rotors.
