Artificial satellite observing and its applications
Abstract
The present work gives a historical account of the launching of artificial earth satellites and describes the basic concepts used in predicting satellite orbits and in tracking satellites. Complex mathematical analyses are kept to a minimum, and extensive sections treat observation techniques that can be used by amateur observers without expensive equipment. The main features of radio tracking of satellites and the use of satellite observations in geophysical research are discussed.
