Symposium on Gyroscope Technology, Heidelberg, West Germany, April 25, 26, 1974, Proceedings
Abstract
Problems concerning the vertical channel of an inertial platform are considered along with viewpoints regarding the selection of platform attitude correction and filter in the case of a vertical reference system. Other subjects explored include procedures for the computational correction of systematic indication errors of conventional gyrospheres, the north-indication error produced by oscillatory carrier motions in the case of north-seeking gyroscopes, modern techniques optimizing displacement gyros, the development of a double gimbaled momentum wheel for active three-axis stabilization of communication satellites, an evaluation of tests used in the repair of inertial systems, possibilities of a use of gas bearings in gyroscopes, and magnetic bearings for spacecraft and conventional applications. Individual items are announced in this issue.
