Calculation of the matching of a broadband microwave optical-emission modulator
Abstract
Calculation of a new type of matching between a microwave modulator section and the feed line. It is recommended that the modulator section of a microwave optical-emission modulator be excited with the aid of a standard junction from a rectangular H-10 mode waveguide to a circular E-01 mode waveguide. In this case there arises the problem of matching a waveguide section with an anisotropic core to a hollow cylindrical waveguide of larger diameter. To solve this problem, the waveguide with an anisotropic core is matched to a waveguide with an isotropic core, which, in turn, is matched via a step junction to the hollow cylindrical waveguide. The calculation of the matching is carried out according to the phase-velocity differential, and, to obtain the geometry, a verification of these calculations is made according to the characteristic-impedance differential.
