Possibility of greatly increasing the frequency stability of negative resistance diode oscillators
Abstract
Description of a method of increasing the frequency stability of waveguidetype oscillators. It is shown that to increase both the short and longterm frequency stability of negativeresistance diode oscillators, it is necessary to choose the dimensions of the microwave system in such a way as to operate in the range of high dispersion of the transmission line, where a decrease in the rate of motion of energy through the waveguide considerably increases the energy stored in the system. This makes it possible to increase by a factor of several tens the loaded Q factor of the oscillatory system and thus decrease by 20 to 30 dB/Hz the spectral power density of the FM fluctuations.
