A case of joint operation of many oscillators
Abstract
The method of slowly varying amplitudes is employed in the investigation of the operation of a number of identical single-loop generators which are interconnected at the fundamental harmonic according to a closed-ring scheme. Possible steady-state regimes, their stability, and noise of the ensemble's total signal in cophase regime are investigated on the supposition that the steady-state amplitudes of the oscillators are equal. It is found that the noise of the total signal caused by statistically independent noise sources in the oscillators is less than the phase noise of a single free oscillator. An experimental circuit consisting of four transistor oscillators whose powers were added to one another is briefly discussed.
