Investigation of the stability of the uniform spinning of a system of Lagrange gyroscopes
Abstract
A statement is formulated that constitutes a modification of Chetaev's (1946) method for constructing Liapunov functions in the form of a bundle of integrals of the equations of perturbed motion. It is shown that in many cases this statement makes it possible to simplify the determination of the sufficient conditions for the stability of steady motions of conservative mechanical systems with a large number of degrees of freedom. Sufficient stability conditions are established for the uniform spinning of a system composed of two Lagrange gyroscopes.
