Jeans' criterion in the presence of heat diffusion and viscosity
Abstract
The dispersion relation for an infinitely extended homogeneous self-gravitating medium is derived in the presence of heat conduction and viscosity, for the usual as well as for the modified Navier-Stokes equation. The influence of the damping on the onset of instability is studied.
