Surface Electromagnetic Waves with Damping. I. Isotropic Media. I. Anisotropic Media.

Surface electromagnetic wave dispersion curves were calculated using a simple equation derived from Maxwell's equations and boundary conditions. Dispersion curves were obtained from attenuated total reflection measurements of silver. This result is extended to other materials and shows, that dispersion curves alone present an inadequate summary of the data.
