An interference displacement comparator for the measurement of longitudinal dimensions in the case of plane or curved areas of measurement
Abstract
The comparator considered can be used for the determination of interior and exterior dimensions. The comparator makes use of the 'three-body method'. The instrument consists of the light source, the optical component, the sensing element, and the carriage. The design of the various parts of the instrument is examined and the methods of measurement are described. The determination of the diameter of spheres is discussed along with the measurement of the diameter of gauge rings and the determination of the length of gauge blocks.
