Spark-discharge switching of bistable, wall-attachment fluidic elements
Abstract
A study of the spark-discharge initiated switching mechanism was conducted. High speed Schlieren photography, measurements of switching time, measurements of minimum switching voltage as a function of electrode location, and other qualitative experiments were made. The problems which must be solved before spark-discharge switching can be modeled are described. The potential practical value of spark-discharge switching is also assessed in the light of the results of research.
