The Effect of Chemical Exchange on Electron Spin Lattice Relaxation Time.
Abstract
The effect of chemical exchange on electron spin lattice relaxation time is investigated by using the Bloch equations. It is found that in the slow exchange limit the effect on T sub 1 is almost the same as on T sub 2 and in the fast exchange limit the effective spin lattice relaxation time is the intrinsic spin lattice relaxation time of the radical ion. These results have been tested experimentally on KTCNE and TCNE in DME system. The electron spin lattice relaxation times are measured by the successive saturation method. There is good agreement between theory and experiment.
