The employment of the fast Fourier transform in digital filters
Abstract
Digital filters have several advantages compared to continuous filters. However, the use of digital filters in the high-frequency region has been too expensive. The employment of digital filtering in multiplex systems for bandwidths up to 10 MHz becomes competitive if the fast Fourier transform algorithm is used. This solution is especially attractive if a broad signal band is to be divided into a great number of small channels.
