Methods for studying the motions of a rarefied gas
Abstract
The theoretical approach to the study of gas kinetics problems described incorporates a method for approximating the Boltzmann kinetic equation and a numerical (computer-aided) method of characteristics for solving the approximating equations. The principal properties of the Boltzmann equation are retained in the approximating equations. The fundamentals of kinetic theory are reviewed.
