Gyroscopic systems /2nd revised and enlarged edition/
Abstract
In the second edition, much more attention is given to nonlinear systems and to systems resting on a moving base. Emphasis is placed on the identification of the general properties of gyroscopic systems and on the influence of gyroscopic forces on the nature and stability of motion. The topics discussed include an analysis of the behavior of systems containing gyroscopes on a moving base; methods of deriving precession equations for nonlinear and nonautonomous gyroscopic systems, and evaluating the applicability of their solutions; stability analysis of gyroscopic systems; determination of conditions for stabilizing (unstable) systems by means of gyroscopic forces; and analysis of steady motions.
