Leuchtkraftfunktion und Massendichte der sonnennahen Sterne
Abstract
A study was conducted of new information presented in the Catalogue of Nearby Stars, edition 1969, compiled by Gliese. The number of stellar systems which are closer than 20 pc has increased by 15% during the period from 1957, when the first Gliese catalog was published, to 1969. Characteristics of the luminosity function are discussed, giving attention to the luminosity function determinations conducted by a number of authors. A calculation of mass density in the vicinity of the sun takes into account a mass-luminosity relation which was improved on the basis of the latest mass determinations of weak double stars.
