The testing of the correct magnetization in magnetic crack-testing instruments
Abstract
Attention is given to the effect of permeability, the magnetizing current, ampere-turn measurements, and checks regarding the induction. It is found that there exist significant uncertainties in almost all available procedures for the quantitative control of the magnetization of specimens in magnetic crack testing instruments. A reliable method is based on the determination of the magnetic flux or the induction directly at the specimen.
