The system of α Crucis
Abstract
New radial-velocity data, obtained at the Radcliffe Observatory, are presented for the two components of cc Crucis, which exclude periods near one day. The star cc' Crucis is a long-period spectroscopic binary (P = 75 769 days) and cc2 Crucis is constant in velocity. The new results imply that cc Cru should no longer be rejected from Sco-Cen membership on grounds of radial velocity, but an unexplained difference in radial velocity between the two components remains.
