Photoelectric spectrum scans and coudé spectroscopy of HD 153919 (= 2U 1700-37).

Photoelectric scanner observations and coude' spectroscopy of HD 153919 are reported. None of the scans obtained on four nights show any evidence of broad emission wings near 4100 or 4350 A, as has been previously reported by Walker and Hensberge et al. The Lifi emission is variable in intensity from night to night and perhaps on time scales as short as a few minutes. The coude' spectra show the C Ill-N iii and He ii emission features to have broad ( 40 A) wings.
