The light curve and orbital elements of XZ Sgr.
Abstract
The Algol-type eclipsing binary XZ Sgr was observed in Johannesburg during 1971 following a recomrnendation of Commissions 30 and 42 of the IAU. Approximately 600 observations each were obtained in B and V, and 78 in U, mostly near primary minimum. XZ Sgr consists of an A3 primary and a G secondary component, the primary star being somewhat large and overluminous and the secondary star, which fills its Roche lobe, being greatly overluminous for its mass. Using Smak's spectroscopic data, the masses and radii of the stars are found to be M0, R0 and M0, R0.
