The effect of convection normal to the surface in a developing boundary layer
Abstract
The effect of convection normal to the surface can be evaluated exactly by numerical integration of the ordinary differential equation for the conservation of energy in a laminar boundary layer on a flat plate. The latter results can be used as an upper bound and as an approximate, asymptotic solution for the inlet of a tube, despite the discrepancy due to curvature as described by the authors (1973). Such results are presented.
