Holographic sound detection of a rectangular plate with a mass loading
Abstract
Theoretical studies of sound radiation from plates predict that far-field acoustic radiation emanates from discontinuities on plates. Recently a holographic technique has been used to experimentally verify this theory qualitatively. In this paper, a small metal mass attached to a rectangular vibrating plate clearly gives rise to far-field sound as shown in the hologram wavefront reconstruction.
