Waves in the lower thermosphere: Recent experimental investigations
Abstract
Observations of gravity waves reported by Revah (1969) are discussed along with questions concerning the existence of tidal winds, studies of the variations of the semidiurnal tide, the characteristics of the diurnal tide, the occurrence of the ter-diurnal tide, and reports regarding planetary waves. Attention is also given to the initiation of a Franco-Soviet cooperative program for the study of the horizontal propagation of planetary waves.
