Near-zone scattering by plates, cylinders, and cones
Abstract
The near-zone monostatic scattered fields of flat plate, circular cylinder, and finite right circular cone targets are considered in this communication. The near-zone scattered fields were measured using a Scientific-Atlanta precision EM field probe; and the near-zone fields were computed using the geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD). Good agreement between measurements and predictions resulted. These results indicate that GTD is an accurate descriptor of near-zone scattering.
