Mechanically-scanning antennas
Abstract
Mechanically pointed radar antennas include search antennas, which scan continuously through 360 degrees in azimuth, and trackers, which point a narrow beam in two coordinates, following a selected target. These antennas are used in air traffic control and surveillance, surface and air search at sea, azimuth-elevation slewing motions, tracking and guidance, and communications and instrumentation in conjunction with synchronous satellites. Each of these uses is described along with the various antennas employed in the particular case.
