The possibility of widening the electronic tuning range of strip line cavities
Abstract
The present work examines the use of switching diodes for widening the range of varactor tuning for strip line cavity resonators. The equivalent circuit of a resonator with varactor and switching diodes is analyzed, and the transcendental equations relative to the system resonant frequency were solved grapho-analytically. In an experimental circuit using a p-i-n diode as a switching diode, theoretical results were confirmed, and it appears that the range of varactor of a strip line cavity can be considerable extended by this method.
