Statistical investigation of turbulent reacting flow
Abstract
A statistical treatment of a chemically reacting system of gaseous components is proposed. In the approach employed, it is assumed that a certain probability density distribution of a given component exists in a homogeneous turbulence field, and that this distribution is influenced by the mixing effect of the turbulence. The problem of determining the reactioncontrolled behavior of the probability density distribution as a function of time is studied analytically and experimentally. Numerical results for the 2NO + O2 yields 2NO2 reaction are discussed and are compared with mass spectrometry data.
