Spectrophotometry of the Crab Nebula
Abstract
The entire Crab Nebula has been observed in 23 bands from 3400 to 7800 A, to establish the continuum shape and emission-line fluxes. The optical continuum resembles a power lawf = 4 if Av is 1.6 mag. The observed Hfl flux corresponds to 0.4 o of ionized hydrogen, for the same interstellar absorption, if N = 10 and T = 15,000 K. The line flux ratios, without correction for reddening, are [0 ii] A37271HP = 8 + 2 [Om] A49591HP = 4 + 1, [0 iii] A5007/H = 11 + 3, Ha + [N u]IHfl = 18 1 4, and [Si'] A6717 + A67311HP = 10 1 3.
