Parallax, orbit, and mass of the binary star 70 Ophiuchi.
Abstract
Plates taken with the Sproul refractor over the interval 1914-1971 give a relative parallax of + 0207 + 0'.'007 (p.e.) and a fraction mass f = 0.445 I 0.003. With combined values for n and j; and a revised orbit (P = 88.13 yr; a = M545; K1 = 3.3 km s-'), component masses A = 0.81 M0 and B = 0.64 M0 are obtained. The lack of evidence for a third body is sustained. Subject headings: stars, individual - visual double or multiple stars
