Large-Scale Inhomogeneity of the Universe: Implications for the Deceleration Parameter
Abstract
The relationship is evaluated between relative density fluctuation and the associated deviation from the Hubble expansion for large-scale spherical inhomogeneities in Friedmann universes of arbitrary q0. Even if the most stringent limits hitherto suggested on local shearing motions over the Virgo supercluster region are adopted, q0 need be no smaller than 0.1.
