A Search for X-Rays from Supernova 1972e with UHURU and OSO-7
Abstract
Thirteen observations from 16 months before to two years after maximum light reveal only one possible (3.2 cr) positive result which corresponds to a luminosity of 1.0 1 0.3 X 1041 ergs s-i (3-10 keV) at 45d before max. The failure to detect any sizable flux contradicts a model by Shklovsky and may constrain that of Colgate and McKee. Subject headings: supernovae - X-rays
