An atlas of Seyfert galaxies.
Abstract
Data now available for 71 Seyfert galaxies are summarized and discussed. A collection of 37 spectra is presented to illustrate the spectral characteristics of these galaxies, and new UBV data are included for 18 galaxies. A well-defined angular-diameter-redshift relation is found to exist for the total sample of galaxies, so it is concluded that the redshifts are cosmological. The mean ultraviolet magnitude for 40 Seyfert nuclei whose properties resemble the QSOs is calculated to be -20.4, with 21 nuclei having ultraviolet magnitudes greater than -20 but less than -21.5.
