A High-Sensitivity Pulsar Survey
Abstract
Eleven new pulsars have been detected in the initial stages of a low-latitude pulsar survey being carried out at the Arecibo Observatory. The survey is more than to times more sensitive than previous pulsar surveys, and has at present covered 7 percent of the sky within 5 of the galactic plane accessible to the Arecibo telescope. The results suggest that the density of pulsars in the Galaxy decreases rapidly for distances greater than 10 kpc from the galactic center. Subjed headings: Galaxy The - pulsars - supernova remnants
