Iron Production by 12C-DETONATION Supernovae
Abstract
A procedure which is relatively insensitive to the details of galactic evolutionary models is used to examine the production of iron-group nuclei to be expected from the carbon-detonation supernova model. The requirement that iron production be such as to reproduce the observed Fe/(C + 0) abundance ratio places severe constraints on either (1) the frequency of such events or (2) the amount of iron-group elements ejected from such an event.
