Spectroscopy of objects near Texas radio-source positions.
Abstract
Spectroscopic observations of 62 objects near accurate Texas radio-source positions are reported. Among a sample of 17 blue stellar objects within 3" of the Texas radio positions all 17 are found to be QSOs, confirming the expected high reliability (95 percent) of such identifications. A further seven QSOs, and two stars, are found among nine blue stellar objects lying between 3" and 5" of the radio positions. Observations of 12 red and neutral stellar objects within 5" of Texas, and other, accurate radio positions show two of them to be QSOs and three to be rather luminous galaxies, comparable with low4uminosity QSOs. New redshifts are given for 30 QSOs and galaxies. Subject headings: galaxies - quasi-stellar sources or objects - radio sources - redshifts
