Spectroscopic observations of HZ Herculis.

Spectroscopic observations of HZ Her obtained over a period of 1 year are presented. The velocity curve is distorted because of the shape of the star and the brightness distribution over its surface but preliminary estimates of the masses of HZ Her and the X-ray source are 2.2 i 0.4 M0 and 1.3 i 0.4 M0, respectively, assuming i = 90 . Apart from an absorption spectrum varying in type from BO to A8, only very weak variable emission at AA4602, 4640, and 4686 is observed. The space motion and distance of HZ Her are briefly discussed.
