Separating laminar boundary layers with prescribed wall shear
Abstract
The method employed for solving the problem is closely related to the differential-difference method used by Smith and Clutter (1963). However, an improved shooting technique has been employed to solve the resulting set of ordinary differential equations. No evidence of singular behavior at separation was found in the cases considered. It is pointed out that further computations are required to establish whether cases with more extensive regions of reversed flow will exhibit unstable behavior analogous with that experienced by Catherall and Mangler (1966) in an alternative type of inverse problem.
