Emission lines and radial velocities of the VV Cephei type star BD +54 2698.
Abstract
Four spectrographic plates of BD + 54"2698 have been obtained at a dispersion of 20 A . The spectrograms cover the spectral field from 3400 A to 5200 A. We have identffied more than one hundred emission lines, principally of [Fell] and Fell, but also of [SlI], [FellI], [NiII],[CuII], Sill, SlI, Till, Cr11 and NilI. The Balmer lines are visible in emission from Hy to H14. The radial velocities of the emission lines of the different elements are very similar to the radial velocities of the M star. It seems that these elements are associated with its extended atmosphere. The hydrogen lines in absorption have a radial velocity very different and suggest that BD + 54"2698 is a double system. Key words: emission lines - [Fell] and Fell - radial velocities
