Aperture synthesis study of H I in the galaxy IC 10.
Abstract
Summary. Synthesis observations of the neutral hydrogen in the partially obscured, irregular galaxy IC 10 are presented. Angular resolution is 2' arc and spectral resolution is 21 km 1, The data are consistent with a flattened gas distribution undergoing general rotation. Morphology of the H I distribution is similar to that of the Small Magellanic Cloud. IC 10 is approximately 3 times as massive as the SMC. Evidence is presented which suggests that the obscuration in the direction of IC 10 has been overestimated. Key words: galaxies - hydrogen
