Exploratory dip systematics in elastic scattering
Abstract
The regularity in dip position of elastic differential cross sections at high energies is discussed. The dip structure for the elastic reactions of various charged particles are defined. The generation of mathematical relationships using the impact parameter representation is explained. It is stated that for a given reaction the dip position should move to larger (or smaller) value if the total cross section decreases (or increases) with the energy. Data of pion nucleon as well as antiproton-proton scattering show that such a dip moves toward the larger value.
