Application of laser differential interferometers to gas dynamics
Abstract
Optical equipment for the application of laser differential interferometers to various gas dynamic problems are systematically surveyed and the possibilities of the method shown for various examples. The sensitivity of the interferometer is exemplified for the recording of a sound wave. Spatial resolution obtained by focusing is demonstrated for a shock wave profile. Multiple beam arrangements are described and illustrated. Profile measurements with a deviating mirror are described. Applications to stray and luminescent phase objects are covered.
