Sound propagation near the critical point of a liquid-vapour system
Abstract
The problem of sound propagation near the critical point of a liquid-vapour system is considered. It is shown that a sound wave will develop into a shock wave in a time that becomes smaller close to the critical point. The shape, propagation velocity and the formation time of the shock waves are calculated.
